The Seventh grade is reading The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff while studying Feudal China. They will reflect on what they read in this blog.
The difference is that Confucius always focused on the bad and Lao Tzu focused on the good things. One example is when my brother is optomistic and I'm not
ReplyDeleteThe difference between Confucianism and Taoism is that Confucians are straight forward, precise, and orderly. Taoists are more open and enjoy life. They treat every day as a gift and see life as being sweet as apposed to the Confucius way of life where they view life as sour. Confucians say that, "if the mat is not straight, the master will not sit on it." They believe everything must be exactly the way they want it to be. Taoists, aim to be simpleminded and easygoing, like Winnie-the-Pooh.
ReplyDeleteAnother difference is that Taoists choose to go with the flow while Confucianists make everything orderly. A quote from Confucius is "If the mat is not straight the master will not sit on it."
ReplyDeleteAlso a Taoist principle is that life is fun. But to Confucius life was sour.
These two are also different because Taoists don't spend time worrying about intellect while Confucianists do.
Confucianism focuses on the sour part of life. Confucious is a man who believed the present was out of step with the past. Taoism is a religion that is all about living life and having happiness. To Lao Tzu, believes that all life is sweet and peaceful. In our lives today, most people believe that life is sour and sometimes not worth living. But still there are the people who treasure every moment, the good and even the bad.
ReplyDeleteThe difference between Taoism and Confuciansim is that in Confuciansim, life is sour and in Taoism, life is good. To Lao-tse, the founder of Taoism, the harmony that naturally existed between heaven and earth from the very befinning could be found by anyone at any time. For Confucious, he believed that the present was out of step with the past, and that the government of man on earth was out of harmony with the Way of Heaven, the government of the universe. In Confuciansim, everything had to be used precisely and accuratly, in all the right steps. Very Complex.
ReplyDeletethey are different because confuciansim, Life is always bitter to them, Taoism is ment to be fun in harmony with nature
ReplyDeleteThey are different because confuciansim, They believed that the present was out of step with the past.To the Taoists they believed that the harmony that naturally existed between heaven and earth from the very beginning could be found by anyone at any time , but not following the the rules of the Confucianists.
ReplyDeleteThey differences between Confucianism and Taoism are, K'nung Fu-tse the founder of Confucianism thought that live was sour for example one of his famous lines was "If the mat was not straight, the master would not sit." As you can tell he wanted everthing to be perfect.Taoism (Lao-tse) thought live was not a setter of traps. So you can see one thought live was good and one not so good.

ReplyDeleteI think that was great I agree that They believed that the present was out of step with the past.
the difference between wisdom and knowledge is knowledge may be class smarts and test smarts but wisdom is the smart of knowing what to do
ReplyDeletestreet smarts
Ruby- You're right that Taoists go with the flow and i agree that Confucians worry about intellect and that Taoists just think life is fun-the secret of the uncarved block.
ReplyDeletedearest Kjell,
ReplyDeleteI agree with your approach on the subject because Confucious and Lao Tzu have very different opinions of life and how to live it. and i wouldn't say it doesn't fallow with the rules of confucianism because they are two separate philosophy's/religions. But I guess it could work.
Knowledge For Knowledge Sake-
ReplyDeleteThe Confucionist is a scholar who studies Knowledge for the sake of Knowledge, and who keeps what he learns to himself or to a small group, writing papers no one can understand. For example, owl uses Big words no one can understand and thinks he knows everything, even if its wrong.
They also approach knowledge differently for example the way Pooh and Owl spell Tuesday. Taoists say that Confucianists are the ants ruining the picnic of life. This is because they are always walking around learning more and blame the mind of the "Uncarved Block". For example when Owl's house fell down he asked Pooh if he knocked his house down.
ReplyDeleteI agree maddy with the qoute If the mat is not straight the master will not sit on it, and I couldn't say any better.
